CHEMISTRY RESEARCH CENTRE

Department of Chemistry has been elevated as a research centre in 2023 as per the order no. 8562/AC A6/2023/MGU dated 03.08.2023. The department is an approved interdisciplinary research centre of Mahatma Gandhi University. Presently, there are two research supervisors and five research scholars in the department. The department has collaborations with renowned research institutions and industries. Furthermore, the department has formal MoU with other institutions and industries.

Research Facilities

The department has adequate laboratory facilities for the synthesis of organic materials, inorganic complexes, and nanoparticles. Furthermore, Brabender MetaStation 4E Torque Rheometer for the processing of polymeric and ceramic materials, and Planetary Micro Mill Pulverisette 7 Premium Line for the synthesis of nanoparticles are installed in the interdisciplinary research centre. The centralized instrumentation facility of the college is equipped with sophisticated analytical instruments for the advanced characterization of research samples. The important equipment installed in the facility include:

  • Thermogravimetric Analyzer
  • FTIR spectrometer
  • Fluorescence spectrometer
  • X-ray Diffractometer
  • UV-Vis spectrometer

Faculty members of the department are active researchers. The total citations of the faculty members are about 2400.

Research Publications

Faculty members of the department published over 100 research articles in high impact international journals. They also published academic reference books and book chapters. For the last five years, the department published 19 research papers, 2 books and 2 book chapters. All the publications are international.
